The Optimist Oratorical Contest gives students the chance to speak to the world. More than $150,000 in college scholarships are awarded annually from this program.

The Optimist Oratorical Contest is open to all Vance students.  VMS will send two male and two female representatives to the Optimist Club of Bristol Oratorical Contest held at the Bristol Public Library. Student speeches will be judged based on content and presentation.  The winning speeches will be sent to the zone level, and possibly the district level, for an opportunity to win college scholarships.

This year's speech topic:  "Where are the roots of my optimism?".  The application to enter is available here or from language arts teachers.  The contest will be held on March 1 at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum.

Students interested in participating must return the completed application by January 31.   For more information please email Mrs. Blair at blairr@btcs.org
